“If our mom really loved us she’d let us eat at the gas station.”

I had no doubt their mother not only loved them but would do anything for these little girls, and I was puzzled about why they thought that letting them eat at the gas station was a sign of love.  They informed me that they had seen the commercials that showed what a wonderful place it was to eat.  We were actually stopping for gas on the way to a restaurant that their mom had picked out simply because she knew how much they would like it!

It’s funny to think of children thinking that way since we know they are definitely not missing out on anything by not eating gas station food, but how often do we do the same thing with God? We believe the hype about something and feel that if God doesn’t let us have or do that, He must not love us.  “If God really loved me….”  We need to remember that He can see the truth and knows what is best for us.  He has much better plans!
